However, when you purchase your lanyards, you can ask them to be fitted with something called a safety clip or safety breakaway. This safety breakaway keeps lanyards from causing significant injury.
The breakaway safety clip is a simple clasp, usually made from plastic and compromises a male and female part that can be joined together. You can usually find it on the part of the lanyard that goes around the back of the neck. When the lanyard is pulled on, the plastic clasp will come apart. As it consists of two parts, it doesn’t break, it just dissembles, enabling you to fit the parts back together and continue using the lanyard. This is a brilliant safety feature, especially if lanyards are being worn in environments where they may get caught easily or if they are being worn by children or vulnerable adults.
