Lanyard trends: our most popular ranges

There are a lot of lanyards out there to choose from, and it can be difficult to decide what's right for your brand. In this blog, we look at our most popular ranges, and delve into some of the lanyard trends you can expect to see this year.

Our most popular range of lanyards

Polyester is the most popular material for lanyards, and that looks set to continue this year with more of our customers looking for fully customisable products that can be printed with their own logo.

Custom lanyards give you the creative freedom and flexibility to produce something that reflects your visual identity.

There are two types of customisable polyester lanyards to choose from:

  • Screen-printed lanyards are great for reproducing your design on a flat, ribbed polyester in vibrant spot colours.
  • Dye-sublimated lanyards use heat transfer to print your logo onto a smoother, satin-like polyester in full colour.

Dye-sublimation is popular with customers who want to print on both sides of their lanyards. Its picture-quality detail is ideal for accurately reproducing complex designs, that really make it stand out in a crowd.

If you're looking for something a bit different, then why not try nylon lanyards instead.

Our flat weave nylon has a silky feel and a smooth-ribbed appearance that will give your printed logo a glossy look. Though slightly more expensive than polyester, nylon lanyards are strong, durable and washable, so you can expect them to last a long time.

Style trends to look out for in 2022

If you're responsible for ordering lanyards for your company, then take a look at this year's style trends for inspiration before you make a decision.

  1. Back-to-work practical items

There's no getting away from it, people are going back to the office in their droves, and anything which makes the transition seamless is bound to be a big hit with your audience.

It's easy to attach safety essentials, like hand sanitiser and face masks, to the end of a lanyard so they are always close at hand. For something more practical that makes hot desking easier, we also supply designer lanyards with a built-in USB flash drive.

  1. Fashion-forward materials

Designer lanyards are style conscious and practical. Their edgy vibe has made them popular with big fashion houses like Gucci, Prada, and Jacquemus.

You can expect beaded phone chains and leather lanyards to be big this year – and not just with a younger audience because they also appeal to an older demographic as well.

  1. Hands-free practicality

Lanyards have a universal appeal which makes them popular with a wide audience and that's largely down to how practical and versatile they are. The right lanyard attachment can hold your mobile phone, water bottle, or even a wine glass, while you remain hands-free.

Lanyard card holders are still our most popular attachment, and they are ideal for holding pre-printed ID and membership cards. They come in either portrait or landscape in a range of colours, and you can choose to have your logo printed on one side.

This year's colour trends for lanyards

Colour is an integral part of almost every brand's visual identity, and it's crucial that your lanyard can accurately represent this. We offer a colour match service for the material and print of all our personalised lanyards using Pantone and RGB colour references.

If you're looking for inspiration, then consider Pantone's colour of the year for 2022.

Very Peri is a red-violet infused blue that was chosen for its spritely, joyous and dynamic features that "encourage creativity and imaginative expression". Previous colours of the year include ultimate grey, classic blue, living coral, and ultra violet.

Whether you pick a shade from your brand palette or you go with a trending colour like Very Peri, we recommend that you choose contrasting colours for your material and printed design.

This will help your lanyard stand out and make sure it's easy to spot at a distance. So, for example, if your logo is predominantly green, then make a statement with a contrasting red lanyard.

Design tips for personalised lanyards

A standard lanyard is just 20mm wide, which is a small space to make a big impact, but it can be done! High contrast colours are a good place to start but if you really want your design to cut through the noise, follow our top tips:

  • Stick to one typeface – this will help to keep your lanyard looking uncluttered and give it a modern, professional finish
  • Choose bold elements – big, bold design elements work much better than small, intricate details that are hard to see
  • Use corporate colours – using colours from your brand palette is a great way to make your lanyard instantly recognisable

It's easy to send your complete artwork to us via web form or email, but if you don't fancy doing the design yourself then we're here to help.

Simply send us your logo, your colour references, and any other design elements you want to include, and we'll do the rest. Before your lanyard goes to print we'll send you a visual proof so you can see what the finished product will look like.

How to arrange a sample

If you're still unsure what's right for you, then we can send you a sample of the lanyards we've designed and printed for other customers. Get in touch with our friendly team of professionals to request your samples.

We can't give you a sample with your logo on, but we can send you an electronic visual, so you can see what your lanyard will look like when it's finished.

Popular lanyards – the key takeaway

Our custom lanyards in polyester can be printed with any design, and that's why they are still our most popular range. Our most-requested attachment continues to be lanyard card holders, but we expect to see lots of new requests coming through this year as brands try to engage their audience with useful and style-conscious attachments.
